Hotel Review: InterContinental Robertson Quay Singapore

IHG Robertson Quay SG

As the photos show, this stay took place around Christmas time in 2019 way before all the lockdowns started to happen and planes started disappearing from the skies.

This IHG hotel is a only a few years old and is located in the vibrant Clarke Quay area. Due to the rather odd shape and size of the building, rooms here are definitely on smaller end of the luxury scale. The public areas too were rather cramped.

Upon checking in as a Platinum IHG member, the Duty Manager came to meet me at the desk to offer her personalised welcome. Nice touch! I was upgraded to a Junior Suite for this stay with access to Club Intercontinental. Unfortunately, that was really the end of any positive service experience at this property. Everyone else that I came into contact with was really just doing their job. There was nothing much to write home about.

The Club Lounge was located on the lobby level adjacent to the elevators, which oh by the way, there was only one working elevator during my entire stay. Whilst service was mediocre, the afternoon tea served at the lounge was excellent and what better place to enjoy a three-tiered afternoon tea presentation than a quiet lounge all ourselves!

Breakfast at the main restaurant was a very busy affair. Besides the freshly baked buttery croissants which were excellent, nothing else were overly impressive…..

All in all, this is a solid upscale hotel in a decent location. Would I return? Maybe.
