Adelaide Airport is getting busier with direct international routes. No more stopovers in Sydney or Melbourne for some key destinations. Here’s what’s new or returning around now and into 2026.
Qantas to Auckland
Qantas started flying direct to Auckland on 31 October 2025. It’s four times a week on a Boeing 737-800, running until 3 May 2026. This is Qantas’ first international service from Adelaide in over a decade. It opens easy connections to New York via Auckland too.

Air New Zealand to Christchurch
Air New Zealand launched direct flights to Christchurch in late October 2025. Twice weekly until March 2026. First ever link between Adelaide and New Zealand’s South Island. Great for skipping the North Island hop.

Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong
Cathay Pacific resumed Hong Kong flights on 11 November 2025 after a five-year break. Three times a week on an A350-900 until late March 2026. Solid option for Asia connections and beyond.

United Airlines to San Francisco
United starts non-stop to San Francisco in December 2025. Three weekly on a Boeing 787-9. Adelaide’s first direct US route. Perfect for West Coast trips or tech visits to Silicon Valley.

Other recent additions
- Indonesia AirAsia began Bali flights in June 2025. Affordable way into Southeast Asia.
- Malaysia Airlines goes daily to Kuala Lumpur from February 2026 (up from five weekly now).
- China Eastern plans direct Shanghai service from mid-2026. Three weekly and first ever to mainland China’s biggest city.
These routes make Adelaide feel more connected. Easier for business, family visits, or holidays. And they bring more visitors to South Australia’s wine regions and events.
