Lounge Review: 1 of 2 Left Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge (Melbourne Airport)

Date:

G is for Golden Lounge. But it can also mean Goodbye. In its heydays, you can find 11 Golden Lounge(s) operating around the world like Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, London, Los Angeles, Paris and Singapore etc. Today, only two are left – Melbourne and London. Two days ago, I was flying home to Singapore to spend Christmas with my family. I was on Malaysia Airlines business class from MEL – KUL – SIN. I went to the time-has-forgotten Golden Lounge tucked away at a nice corner of the T2 building.

Melbourne International Terminal 2 is currently going through renovation as I am writing this. You can also watch the video here.

Golden Lounge is located one floor down from the main gates. So you have to take an escalator or lift down. Signs are everywhere. It is quite easy to find them compared to some really mega airports.

One surprising feature at the Golden lounge is the sit-down dining area. Yes, I am not mistaken. Take a look at the menu below. Not first class standard but at least it is quite a delightful add-on.

There you go, I ordered a bowl of Nonya Curry Noodles.

On the other side of the lounge, there are cheese, sandwiches and fruits. The Seat in the Middle 20

Unlike some lounges in other parts of the world where you have an attendant to ensure the toilets are always clean and fresh, you hardly find this in Australia because of the high labour cost involved. Nevertheless, the toilet and shower area still looked decently clean.
