“There’s no f* (censored) way I eat on planes” once said Gordon Ramsay despite having been on the culinary panel of Singapore Airlines. Ever wondered why he doesn’t eat on planes although we all know that he is no stranger to the point end?

Here are some interesting facts about plane food :

  • Plane food have probably been prepared and frozen for up to three days before your flight and are simply reheated on the plane.
  • Plastic cutlery affect your tastebuds and that probably explains why First and Business generally taste better.
  • Choose the sloppiest food such as a stew or curry – because it is usually pretty hard to overcook them and they retain their flavour better in the air.
  • Food in the air generally taste bland so you tend to end up consuming a lot more onboard to make your meal more palatable.
  • Tray tables are disgustingly full of germs (how often do you think they are cleaned and disinfected?).
  • The hot water tank (for your hot cup of tea or coffee) is rarely cleaned.

Will these facts stop me from enjoying my next in-flight meal? Probably NOT! I am hungry just thinking about these satays…… YUMMY!
