Hotel Review: Novotel on Stevens, Singapore

0

Novotel and Mercure on Stevens Road are the latest additions to the Accor portfolio in Singapore. Opened in October 2017, the hotels are nestled in an upmarket residential neighbourhood including a stone’s throw away from one of Singapore’s top girls’ school – Raffles Girls’ School.

Although it is only 5 minutes away by car from Singapore’s famed shopping strip, Orchard Road, the hotel is nowhere near a train station (subway/MRT). There are no shopping malls within walking distance as well. So if shopping and getting around Singapore on their efficient public transport is your priority, this hotel might not be the one for you.

The room I stayed in was the standard Superior room. The toilet has the fish tank design. Good for those who likes to voyeur to your partner.

Although Novotel and Mercure reside in one building, you would expect one big swimming pool right? Nope. There are two. Novotel’s pool looks over the always busy Stevens Road. Mercure’s pool is quieter and more serene because it is located at the back of the hotel and faces a private residential estate.

The fitness room is located at the Mercure’s wing. Decent in size and a pretty well-equipped.

Breakfast was at Food Exchange. Shared between guests of Novotel and Mercure. Nothing fanciful but decent International and Asian breakfast spread. There is a live cooking station if you fancy a bowl of asian noodles.

Next to the hotel, there is an awesome Mexican fusion restaurant called Winestone. I ordered the only pizza on the menu. It was very good!

In summary, if location is not an issue and the price for a hotel room is right, this hotel might cut it.

Lifts leading to Mercure or Novotel rooms – not both. Remember to take the correct lifts.
