Hotel Review: Holiday Inn Express Katong, Singapore

Next door to the quirky Hotel Indigo, which we have also written about it before, is a cheaper option for those in transit in Singapore or those simply searching for a more authentic local area to stay in whilst visiting this cosmopolitan city.

Holiday Inn Express Katong is not unlike its’ many properties in the US, it promises great value in a very interesting yet convenient neighbourhood, just minutes away on a cab from Changi Airport.

Whilst the rooms are on the smaller side, they do offer a very comfortable bed and a powerful shower. Every room comes with a smartphone which you can take with you while exploring the city so you don’t worry about roaming costs (yes, it includes unlimited data use and voice calls!).

Breakfast isn’t just croissants, scrambled eggs and coffee either, it offers a pretty impressive spread of hot food including a daily local specialty such as Fried Noodles or Carrot Cake!

There is a coin operated laundry for guest use, comfortable communal areas to work and meet, even an orange juice dispenser in the lobby!

If there is a minus to this property, it is how pathetically small the fitness centre is!

Flight Review: CX439 Airbus 321NEO New Business Class ICN-HKG

Flew Cathay Pacific's new business class on their A321Neo (adorable "mini racoon" nickname?). Huge upgrade from their older domestic seats! The wider, comfy seats impressed me. But the star was the recline. Unlike some airlines (think budget carriers), it wasn't just a footrest and lean back. This seat reclined like a rocking chair, distributing weight evenly and giving great back support – perfect for shorter flights!
