One of the most interesting features of Mercure on Stevens is that it shares the same building with Novotel Singapore on Stevens. While both hotels operate as separate brands, they are fully connected, allowing guests to enjoy a wider range of facilities and services. This setup makes the property feel more like a lifestyle hub than a traditional hotel. Despite the shared infrastructure, Mercure maintains its own identity, offering a modern, relaxed atmosphere that feels slightly more boutique compared to the Novotel wing.
As an Accor Platinum member, I was upgraded to a Privilege Room, which immediately enhanced the stay. The room was well designed with contemporary furnishings, calming colors, and warm lighting. It felt comfortable and functional rather than oversized, with smart use of space that made it easy to settle in. The Privilege Room included thoughtful extras such as a Nespresso machine, upgraded bathroom amenities, bathrobes, and slippers. The bed was very comfortable, and soundproofing was excellent, ensuring quiet and restful nights throughout the stay.
A major highlight of the experience was access to the Premier Lounge, located in the Novotel wing. This is where the benefit of having two hotels in one building truly became apparent. The lounge provided a peaceful space to relax, work, or simply escape the busier public areas of the hotel. During the day, it was ideal for enjoying a coffee or light refreshment in a calm environment. In the evening, the lounge offered light bites and drinks, making it a pleasant place to unwind before dinner. The atmosphere remained relaxed, and service was consistently attentive and friendly without feeling intrusive.
Breakfast was served at the buffet restaurant within the complex and exceeded expectations. The spread included a wide range of international and Asian options, from fresh pastries and fruit to made-to-order eggs, noodles, and local dishes. A particularly welcome benefit was the dedicated seating area reserved for Accor Diamond and Platinum members. This section offered a quieter dining experience, even during peak hours, with more attentive service and regular coffee refills. The buffet was well managed, and food quality remained high throughout the breakfast period.
Dining options extended well beyond the hotel brands themselves. The Stevens complex includes a variety of restaurants that are not owned or operated by the hotel, giving guests far more choice than a typical hotel setting. This variety made dining especially convenient, whether for a casual meal or something more refined, and eliminated the need to travel elsewhere after a long day.
For fitness-focused travelers, the facilities were particularly impressive. Hotel guests have access to Anytime Fitness, a fully equipped gym that feels more like a dedicated fitness club than a standard hotel gym. The equipment selection was extensive and well maintained, making it suitable for everything from light workouts to serious training sessions. In addition to the gym, the property features two swimming pools, offering flexibility depending on whether guests prefer swimming laps, cooling off, or simply relaxing poolside.
Although Mercure on Stevens is not directly on Orchard Road, the location strikes a good balance between accessibility and tranquility. The surrounding Stevens area is quieter and greener, which adds to the sense of retreat, while transport links and shuttle services make it easy to reach major shopping, business, and tourist areas across Singapore.
