After a quick few days in Shenzhen, it was time to head home to Singapore. I booked the return leg on Shenzhen Airlines from Shenzhen Bao’an Airport (SZX) to Singapore Changi (SIN). The flight took just under four hours, and I wanted to see how the airline performed on the way back.
I arrived at Terminal 3 with plenty of time. Check-in was straightforward. Staff spoke enough English to make things easy, and I dropped my bag without any hassle. Security moved reasonably fast for a busy Chinese airport. Once airside, I made my way to the Shenzhen Airlines King Lounge opposite international security checkpoint 1.
The lounge felt calm and spacious. No windows, but the lighting was soft and the seats comfortable. I settled into an armchair, plugged in my devices, and caught up on emails.
The buffet offered a good mix—congee, dumplings, stir-fried noodles, fresh fruit, and some Western options like pastries.
The made-to-order noodle soup with sirloin was hot and tasty. Drinks included tea, coffee, beer, and a small selection of wines. Showers with basic toiletries were available if needed. Staff kept the place tidy and cleared plates quietly. It wasn’t flashy, but it made the wait far more comfortable than sitting in the gate area.
Shenzhen Airlines kept things simple and reliable on this return leg. The lounge delivered solid food and a quiet space to relax. The aircraft was a clean Boeing 737. Business class has just a handful of seats, so the cabin felt spacious and private. My seat offered good legroom for the route, with a decent recline. It wasn’t a full flat bed, but it worked fine for a short flight.
If you’re looking for an affordable, no-nonsense option between Shenzhen and Singapore, this works well—especially with lounge access. I’d fly them again for the timing and price.
For anyone heading this route, the King Lounge is worth using if you qualify. It turned a standard layover into something pleasant before the short hop home.
