My recent stay at DoubleTree by Hilton New York JFK Airport was a really comfortable option for an overnight stay near JFK. Airport hotels are usually more about convenience than experience, but this stay ended up being better than expected. Check-in was smooth and friendly from the start. The staff acknowledged my Diamond status straight away and upgraded me to a Junior Suite on the top floor, which was a great surprise. Of course, no stay at a DoubleTree is complete without the warm cookie at check-in, and honestly it still lives up to the hype. After travelling all day, getting handed a warm chocolate chip cookie somehow makes everything feel a little less stressful.

The Junior Suite itself was spacious, clean, and modern without feeling overly flashy. There was plenty of room to spread out, which made the stay feel much more relaxing than a standard airport overnight. Waiting in the room was also a small welcome bag with bottled water and snacks, which was a thoughtful touch and definitely appreciated late in the evening.

The highlight of the stay was easily the view from the room. Being on a high floor gave a wide view out across Queens and toward the airport. Around sunset, the room completely changed atmosphere as the sky turned orange and pink over the city. Watching planes take off in the distance with the sunset behind them was unexpectedly calming, especially after the chaos of travelling.

As part of the Diamond benefits, I received a food and beverage credit which I used it at the hotel restaurant downstairs, which was solid for an airport property. The menu had a good variety of options, service was quick, and the atmosphere was relaxed and easygoing.
I also checked out the fitness centre during my stay. It wasn’t huge, but it had modern cardio machines, weights, and enough equipment for a decent workout. Everything was clean and well maintained.

The biggest advantage of the hotel is still the convenience factor. Being close to JFK with shuttle access makes arrivals and departures much less stressful, especially for early morning flights or short layovers. Even with the airport nearby, the room stayed fairly quiet throughout the night.
Overall, this was a very good airport hotel stay that felt easy from start to finish. The Junior Suite upgrade, warm DoubleTree cookie, sunset views, and Diamond perks all helped make it more memorable than the average overnight near the airport. I’d definitely stay here again when passing through JFK.
