Qantas Starts Ticketing the Perth to London Flight Today and This is What You Need to Know

  • The new Perth-London route on the 787-9s originates in Melbourne.
  • QF9/10 currently operated by the A380s between Melbourne-Dubai-London will be replaced by the B787s on Melbourne-Perth-London where services begin on 24 March 2018.
  • Melbourne to London via Perth will save you an hour than going through Dubai because of the shorter transit in Perth.
  • Qantas 787-9s will have 42 (1-2-1) business class seats, 28 (2-3-2) premium economy seats and 166 economy seats (3-3-3).
  • There will be no more first class cabin on the route.
  • The A380s from the Melbourne-Dubai-London will be used during periods of high demand between Singapore/Hong Kong and Australia.

  • This is Qantas’ first nonstop flights between Australia and Europe. The 17-hour Perth-London service with 7,829nm or 14,499km is the third longest nonstop scheduled flight in the world.

  2. Eithad is reducing their capacity between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi from 29 October 2017. EY460/461 A380 flights will be replaced by the B777-300ER and the EY462/463 B777-300ER will be replaced with the 787-9s.
