Eithad Stops Flying A380 to Melbourne

Sad day for Melbourne.

Etihad has just announced that it will be suspending its A380 services between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi from 29th October 2017. This service will be replaced with a B777 hence marking a significant reduction in capacity on the route.

It baffles me why the airline has chosen Melbourne when the route seems to be doing quite well and considering they have not too long ago invested in a gorgeous lounge at the international airport.

With this equipment change, Melbourne no longer have The Residence offered. Definitely a sad day for those with extra cash (or miles) to burn because this is definitely THE way to fly to Europe!

However, Business Class appeared full, likely due to VIPs and media accompanying Dr. Ahmet Bolat, the Chairman of Turkish Airlines. The entire Business Class section was reserved for VIPs.
