Malaysia Airlines Ad: Hari Raya Around the World

0

A few days ago, Malaysia Airlines #MH released a video featuring how four cultures celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri around the world in their own ways.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri, also called the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast falls on the 25 Jun 2017 this year. It is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is an Islamic holy month where the muslims fast from dawn to sunset.

Like the Chinese Lunar New Year in China, Hari Raya in Malaysia is one of the most important holidays for Muslims. Many muslims return to their family home to be reunited with their families and loved one. During the festival period, families and friends seek foegiveness from each other, pays a visit to their ancestors’ graves, offer prayers at the mosques etc. Hari Raya Aidilfitri is also a time of feasting where relatives and friends visit each other and feast on traditional Malay local food like ketupat, rendang, satay, lemang and curry.

In times of uncertainties and misunderstanding about Muslims around the world, I thought #MH has put in an ingenious way in portraying how Malaysians and in particular Malaysia – a hotpot of different cultures – are peaceful people who can live harmoniously together with other communities.

Putting advertising aside, I am sure this video will touch many hearts. Watch it below.

TheSeatinTheMiddle would like to wish all Muslims, Selamat Hari Raya Aidifiltri. Maaf Zahir dan Batin.
