Stuck in Hong Kong? Trying to get out of the country amidst all the havoc?

Whilst Cathay Pacific has continued to cancel several flights out of the city today (Wednesday) after the unprecedented closure yesterday afternoon, most foreign airlines are still flying in and out of the airport. Most of them too have had to deal with the backlog of their own passengers who were stuck from yesterday.

If getting across the border to Shenzhen, Guangzhou or Macau by train or ferry, is not a viable option for whatever reason (availability of seats, visas or even just not wanting to go out there to face the crowds), fret not, there are still options available to get out of the city this week by air.

Consider flying to another hub in the region such as Singapore (with over 20 flights per day), Kuala Lumpur (about 12 flights daily) or Bangkok (averaging 20 flights a day). A quick check on SkyScanner reveals that direct flights to Singapore are still available from US$146 on budget carrier Scoot and US$250 on Singapore Airlines. From Singapore, one could quite easily fly to any corner of the world as it is undoubtedly Asia’s premier air hub!

Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok are both close-by alternatives with flights from US$95 and US$128.
