I had a few hours to kill at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and instead of sitting around the terminal, I decided to try Kepler Club. I used my Priority Pass to get in, which made it an easy choice.
There are actually two Kepler Club locations at KLIA Terminal 1. One is airside in the Satellite Building, while the other is landside on Level 2. I used the landside location, the one near the car park and on the way towards the Sama-Sama Hotel. The Priority Pass listing confirms the landside location is on Level 2 and says to follow the signs for Sama-Sama Hotel.
I arrived at around 2pm. The first thing I noticed was how quiet it was. In fact, I was the only guest there when I arrived. After the busy airport terminal outside, it felt almost strange to walk into such a quiet place.
The check-in was simple. After checking in, you walk through the bathroom and shower area before reaching the sleeping cabin section. There are lockers, towels and showers available, so it works quite well if you need to freshen up as well as rest. The facilities were clean and everything looked well maintained.
Then you get to the cabins.
The sleeping area was dark and cold, which for me was actually a good thing. Airports can be bright, noisy and uncomfortable, so having a dark room with air conditioning made it much easier to relax. The cabin itself was comfortable enough for a few hours of rest. It is not really a normal hotel room, of course, but that is not what I expected. It is more like having your own little private sleeping space inside the airport.
I think this is where Kepler Club makes sense. If you have a long layover, arrive early for a flight, or simply need somewhere quiet to sleep and shower, it is much better than trying to sleep on an airport chair.
Using Priority Pass also made the experience particularly good for me. Priority Pass currently lists one visit as allowing up to two hours at this Kepler location.
The one thing I would keep in mind is the price if you are paying yourself and want to stay for many hours. Kepler uses an hourly pricing system, which is useful because you only pay for the time you need. But those hours can start adding up. If you are looking for a much longer daytime stay, I would compare the total cost with a proper airport hotel day-use room. At some point, having a bigger room and more space may be better value.
Overall, I liked Kepler Club. It was clean, quiet and comfortable, and being almost completely empty when I visited made it even more relaxing. For a couple of hours between flights, I would happily use it again.
