Lounge Review: Plaza Premium Lounge, Kota Kinabalu International Airport

Many would know that Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is the gateway to the many natural wonders of Borneo but unless you were a local, you probably wouldn’t realise that the “new” terminal today was actually a long work-in-progress expansion project! Kota Kinabalu International Airport’s new terminal is now fully operational and Plaza Premium expanded their network into this part of the world about 4 years ago with two lounges here – Domestic and International.

During my recent trip “home”, I finally had the opportunity to test out the International Lounge. I have never wandered into this lounge ever before because I usually walk straight into Malaysia Airlines’ Golden Lounge but because I was flying AirAsia, I didn’t think they would welcome me there!

As far as I can remember, this lounge has taken over the space which was Malaysia Airlines’ temporary lounge when the terminal first opened many years ago.

The entry to the lounge –  by the way,  feels like an oasis of peace compared to the mayhem in the terminal. There was only one other couple whilst my family was there that morning!

Flight Review: TK168 Turkish Airlines Singapore-Melbourne Economy Class (Inaugural)

On March 2, 2024, TK168 departed from Singapore to Melbourne. Due to a last-minute rescheduling, the flight was light, with only around 50 passengers in Economy. However, Business Class appeared full, likely due to VIPs and media accompanying Dr. Ahmet Bolat, the Chairman of Turkish Airlines. The entire Business Class section was reserved for VIPs.
