Marriot’s Bonvoy(age)

Thanks to our friends at One Mile At A Time, it looks like Marriott has finally come up with a name for its’ combined loyalty programme – Bonvoy.

Now, that is not a word to be found in the dictionary but one would suspect it to be an abbreviation of Bon Voyage. A patent has been filed for this name so whilst no one seems to have confirmation of this new name, it is quite likely an announcement would be made soon.

They have also come up with some really creative new tier levels – Silver Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, and Ambassador Elite.

The merger of Marriott and Starwood may have created the world’s largest hotel group but if a Platinum Elite like myself has to wait for 30 minutes when calling the Elite contact centre, and even after months and months of tweaking, they still cannot their website to handle certificate reservations across brands – something is really wrong! They should be focusing on what matters most.

On March 2, 2024, TK168 departed from Singapore to Melbourne. Due to a last-minute rescheduling, the flight was light, with only around 50 passengers in Economy. However, Business Class appeared full, likely due to VIPs and media accompanying Dr. Ahmet Bolat, the Chairman of Turkish Airlines. The entire Business Class section was reserved for VIPs.
