I recently stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott Jakarta Airport for a quick overnight layover and found it to be a solid, no-frills option that’s incredibly convenient if you’re flying in or out of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The biggest advantage of this property is without a doubt its location. While it’s not directly connected to the airport terminals, it’s only about a 15 to 20-minute drive away depending on which terminal you’re coming from and the traffic conditions, which in Jakarta can be unpredictable. Fortunately, the hotel offers a scheduled shuttle service to and from the airport, which adds a lot of value and convenience—especially for travelers who don’t want to deal with taxis or rideshares after a long flight. The shuttle was easy to book through the front desk, and it ran on time both ways during my stay.

Check-in was quick and smooth. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, I was acknowledged at the front desk and welcomed warmly, which I appreciated. However, there was no room upgrade offered despite my status. I understand that Fairfield is a limited-service brand, and upgrades are not guaranteed, but many other Marriott properties—especially in Asia—often make a small effort when they can. In this case, it was polite recognition but nothing more. Still, the staff were courteous, efficient, and generally helpful throughout my stay, and I didn’t have any service-related issues.

The room itself was clean, modern, and practical. It wasn’t large, but it was well-designed and comfortable for a single night. The bed was great for sleeping, the air conditioning worked well (a must in Jakarta’s humidity), and the bathroom, though compact, had good water pressure and all the basics. The Wi-Fi was included and performed well enough for video calls and streaming. Everything felt consistent with what you’d expect from the Fairfield brand—simple, clean, and dependable.

I only used the hotel restaurant for breakfast, and that was definitely the most hectic part of the stay. The breakfast area was very, very busy, with a constant stream of guests coming and going, most likely trying to eat quickly before heading to the airport. It was hard to find a clean table during peak hours, and while the staff were working hard to clear and reset tables, they were clearly overwhelmed. Despite the chaos, they remained friendly and did their best, which I appreciated. The buffet itself had a decent mix of local Indonesian dishes like fried rice and noodles, along with some basic Western items like toast, eggs, sausages, and cereal. The coffee was from a machine—nothing special, but it did the job. Overall, breakfast was just okay, but the overcrowded atmosphere really detracted from what could’ve been a smoother start to the day. If you’re planning to eat there, I’d recommend going early or waiting until just after the morning rush if your flight schedule allows.

There isn’t much around the hotel in terms of food or activities. The immediate area is quiet and unremarkable, with no shops or restaurants to speak of beyond a Starbucks and a KFC about a five-minute walk away. These might come in handy if you’re arriving late and want a quick bite, but don’t expect any local dining or entertainment options within walking distance. This hotel is very much a transit hub, and the surroundings reflect that.
Amenities at the property are minimal. There’s a small fitness room and a convenience corner in the lobby for snacks and drinks, but that’s about it. There’s no pool, no lounge, and no room service. There’s also no executive lounge for Bonvoy elites, and beyond the basic welcome and points, there aren’t many perks for elite members. That said, the hotel doesn’t pretend to be more than what it is—it offers a clean bed, a decent breakfast, and reliable transport to the airport, which is ultimately what most guests are there for.

Overall, the Fairfield by Marriott Jakarta Airport is a functional and well-located airport hotel that makes sense for short layovers or overnight stays between flights. It’s not designed for luxury or extended vacations, but if you’re just passing through, it gets the job done. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the airport access is excellent, and the staff are polite and efficient. As a Platinum Bonvoy member, I would’ve appreciated a little more in terms of recognition or upgrade, but I didn’t have any major complaints. Breakfast could definitely be improved, particularly with better crowd management and staffing during peak hours, but it’s serviceable.
