Lounge Review: Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge (Regional) Kuala Lumpur

Having just tested Malaysia’s new Business Class seat on the A330-800 from Melbourne, I was very much looking forward to check out their regional lounge at Kuala Lumpur International.

Malaysia Airlines announced a revamp sometime in April 2016 and this lounge was slated to be one of the first few to be renovated together with their domestic lounge so as to complement the airline’s ‘new‘ image.

This refresh was due to be completed by late 2016 but lo and behold … nothing has changed – or is it that I cannot tell the difference?

Don’t get me wrong, this is a very spacious lounge and comfortable too. It is usually quieter than the main Business Class lounge in the satellite terminal where most medium and long haul international flights depart from.

I spent a good two hours in this lounge before my short hop to Singapore. Let me know if you can spot the changes… (if any).

Also, read about the Golden Lounge at Melbourne Airport here and watch it here. (Update: The lounge in Melbourne is no longer operational as of 1 Feb 2017.)

On March 2, 2024, TK168 departed from Singapore to Melbourne. Due to a last-minute rescheduling, the flight was light, with only around 50 passengers in Economy. However, Business Class appeared full, likely due to VIPs and media accompanying Dr. Ahmet Bolat, the Chairman of Turkish Airlines. The entire Business Class section was reserved for VIPs.
