Hotel Review: Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie

Date:

During my recent trip to Kuala Lumpur, I had the opportunity to stay at the Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie. Formerly known as Glenmarie Hotel & Golf Resort, the property officially reopened under the Hilton brand on 1 March 2026, following a rebranding and renovation programme. I was curious to see how the transformation had turned out, and my experience was a mixed but generally pleasant one.

The renovation appears to have been relatively straightforward rather than a complete overhaul. Some areas feel refreshed, with updated finishes and a more contemporary look, but the overall building still shows its age. In certain places, the renovation feels a little rough around the edges, and the older hardware and fixtures are still noticeable. While the hotel has clearly made an effort to give the property a new lease of life, there are details that could have been finished more carefully.

I stayed in a Golf View Room, which offered a pleasant outlook over the surrounding greenery and golf course. One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is its peaceful setting. There is a genuine urban resort feel here, with open spaces, landscaped grounds, and a quieter atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind. It feels removed from the noise and congestion of the city, which is particularly appealing if you are looking for a short break without travelling too far from the Klang Valley.

Location-wise, the hotel is somewhat out of the way, especially if you want to explore central Kuala Lumpur or visit different parts of Shah Alam. However, getting around is relatively easy with ride-hailing services such as Grab, so the location is manageable as long as you do not mind arranging transport whenever you want to go out.

The Executive Lounge is quite small, but I found it a useful space to have a coffee, catch up on emails, or get some work done in a quieter environment. It is not particularly impressive in terms of size, but it serves its purpose well. Staff service was acceptable during my stay, although there was nothing particularly memorable that stood out.

Breakfast was not too bad, with a reasonable selection to start the day. It was adequate rather than exceptional, but there was enough to make for a decent morning meal.

Overall, Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie has potential, particularly for travellers who appreciate a quiet, resort-style setting. The golf course views and peaceful surroundings are definite positives, while the rebranding brings a recognised international hotel name to the property. However, the renovation could have been more thorough, as some signs of the building’s age remain visible. With further attention to the finer details, the hotel could deliver a more polished experience. For now, I would see it as a quiet urban resort that is comfortable enough for a short stay, provided expectations are set accordingly.
